Properties of 3 notorious peddlers attached in Awantipora: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 08 (KNO): Continuing its decisive action against drug trafficking and in line with its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, J&K Police on Wednesday said to have attached properties belonging to three notorious drug peddlers in Awantipora. “J&K Police have attached two single-storey residential houses valued at approximately Rs 18 lakhs, belonging to two notorious drug peddlers identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Shalla, son of Gull Mohammad Shalla, resident of Karewa Jablipora, Bijbehara and Javid Ahmad Ganie, son in law of Late Ali Mohammad Rather, resident of Gund Baba Khalil, Naina Sangam,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). These residential properties were identified as illegally acquired assets during an enquiry conducted SHO Police Station Pampore, under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, the spokesman said, adding that the investigation revealed that the properties had been acquired through proceeds of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. “Both individuals are also involved in multiple FIRs. The attachments were carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985. It is pertinent to mention here that both the drug peddlers are currently under Judicial custody at District sub Jail Pulwama,” the statement added. Moreover, J&K police attached a Double -storied, residential house valued approximately 73 Lacs belonging to a notorious lady drug peddler namely, Fareeda Akhter daughter of Gh Rasool Shah resident of Larkipora under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985. “This residential house was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of enquiry conducted by SHO Police Station Awantipora, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, which was accrued from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic Substances by the said lady drug peddler. The said lady drug peddler is also involved in many FIRs,” the statement reads. Meanwhile, the spokesman said that J&K Police remains committed to dismantling the drug menace and taking strict action against those involved in its trade—(KNO)
